Silver-medallists at the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations South Africa were eliminated from the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup on Monday after falling 0-4 to two-time champions Germany.
The Banyana Banyana were playing in their first ever world cup after becoming one of three African qualifiers for the tournament in France.
Unfortunately, they failed to win a single game at the tournament.
Playing in Group B, South Africa lost 1-3 to Spain in their first match at Stade Oceane in Le Havre.
They were then pipped 1-0 by China in their second game before failing to score again in their loss to Germany, who topped the group with a perfect start so far.
The South Africans become the first nation to be eliminated from the tournament.
