Senior Minister, Mr Yaw Osafo Maafo, says plans are far advanced to establish a satellite campus of University for Development Studies (UDS) in Yendi.
He made this known in his response to an appeal from the Overload of Dagbon, Ya-Naa Abukari Mahama II, at his palace when he paid a courtesy call on him at the Gbewaa palace.
According to him, there are already existing plans to establish a university in the Yendi Municipality with its core mandate to run peace related programmes to champion peace in the Northern Region and the neighbouring countries.
The Overlord said he has earmarked 500 acres of land for such a university project.
Mr Osafa-Maafo applauded the Overlord for his readiness to give out land and assured him of making the establishment of a UDS in the area his first priority in canvassing support for Ghana Beyond Aid.
He said he will have a discussion with the Vice Chancellor of UDS to assist in making the project a reality.
Mr Osafo-Maafo expressed his admiration towards the Ya-Naa’s desire to provide quality education for his people.
