A number of students in three senior high schools have been infected with flu suspected to be H3N2 in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The affected schools are Legacy Girls Senior High school, a private school, Krobo Girls Senior High school and Akuse Methodist Senior High Technical School.
The students are receiving healthcare at health facilities in the enclave, 3news.com has gathered.
The students are reported to have complained of fever and continuous headache as they reported in numbers to hospitals in the enclave over the week.
Officials from the Eastern Regional Health Directorate and the World Health Organisation have been to the schools to take samples and provide critical support to control the outbreak.
It is still unclear the source of the infection.
Influenza A virus subtype H3N2 is a subtype of viruses that causes influenza.
The viruses can infect birds and mammals. In birds, humans, and pigs, the virus can mutate into many strains.
