Music videos and movies come with different scenes to tell a particular story as picturesque as possible.
It takes a village to make the perfect picture of a particular music video or movie for the viewing pleasure of viewers.
One of such people who make up the ‘village’ is a special effect artiste whose key role is to combine cosmetic products to create special effects.
These effects come in wounds, scars, monsters, animal features amongst other things.
Paulina Agropah is a young creative special effect artiste in Ghana, aiming to take her craft across the globe.
Speaking to 3news’ Owusu Worae, the graduate of Accra Technical University said her love for horror movies caused her to switch from being a beauty artiste to a special effect artiste creating different effects for movies, music videos and other things.
“A lot of people don’t like horror movies, but I love it so much…when I see people slashed into two, cuts, I’m like this is beautiful.”
Her very first special effect was a gunshot wound she created a year ago.
She is aiming to go far with her art as she laments only a handful of producers in Ghana patronise the services of special effect artistes like herself.
“You watch videos, and there is a bloody scene in it, and you think, if it was given to me, I would have done it better. And you ask, was this done by the person, or?”
Paulina urged movie and music producers in Ghana to desist from hiring nonprofessionals in an attempt to cut cost, and patronise professional special effect artistes for their productions.
