The main road that leads to the Effia-Nkwanta Government Hospital morgue in the Western Region has been closed to both vehicular and human traffic as a result of erosion.
Portions of the road has been eroded and several efforts to get state authorities to fix the road have proven futile.
The Hospital authorities had no option than to block the road to avert any accident.
People have to inconveniently use alternate routes to get to the facility.
Onua TV’s Western Regional Correspondent, Monica Dede Odonkor, visited the scene and observed that erosion has gradually destroyed the road.
The Assembly Member for Nkontompo Electoral Area, Anthony Ephraim, whose jurisdiction the road falls, in an interview with Monica, said the issue has been brought to the attention of the Municipal Assembly.
He said that the Assembly directed him to the Metro Urban Roads, but was redirected to the Regional Urban Roads where he was asked to see a representative by name John, but they are yet to fix the road.
According to Mr Ephraim, though he has been able to bring personnel from all the relevant authorities to the scene to ascertain the state of the road, the best they could do was to tell him that the road has been awarded to a contractor to fix it.
The Assembly Member lamented that after about four months of following up, nothing has been done about the situation.
