A heavy downpour in the evening of Wednesday, May 20 resulted in flooding in some parts of the West Mamprusi Municipality, destroying close to 40 houses and displacing 197 people.
Most of the homes in Nabulugu had their roofs ripped off, forcing residents to evacuate.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Arimeyaw Somo Lucky, and the municipal NADMO coordinator together with the municipal Police Commander visited the community to ascertain the extent of damage.
Commuters and other road users in Walewale, the municipal capital, were also left stranded after hours of the heavy downpour.
Major areas including Nayiri fong, Fongni, Moshi Fong and Estate were flooded with a number of houses submerged due to the downpour.
Many residents of these areas were also displaced.
No casualty has been reported yet, but many residents have lost their properties.
