Thirty-five out of the 231 Ghanaians who were recently brought home from Kuwait have tested positive for coronavirus.
A mandatory quarantine and its concomitant tests saw all the returnees tested for the deadly viral disease.
They are to be in quarantine for 14 days.
According to the Ghana Health Service (GHS), the initial test of the returnees had 35, translating into 15.15 per cent of them, emerging positive.
All of them are in quarantine at the Ghana Football Association’s Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
The result has added up to the country’s total case count from 7,768 to 7,881.
The Ghanaians were allowed into the country despite the border closure since Sunday, March 22 after an agreement between the government and its Kuwaiti counterpart was reached.
They were brought home at the expense of the Kuwaiti government.
They arrived on Saturday, May 23 at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
Aside the health checks, all the returnees underwent preliminary investigations on the circumstances of their stays in Kuwait.
A case by case determination will be made on the status after the investigations and further handling of each deportee in accordance with law.
