Prince Tagoe has said he was played out of position during the 2010 World Cup.
During the qualifiers for that World Cup, Prince Tagoe was playing as a striker and he felt comfortable with that position.
However, at the main tournament, coach of the Black Stars at the time Milovan Rajevac played him in a different position that he couldn’t come to terms with.
“The coach, Milovan, told me, ‘Prince, Asamoah is at the top’ when you get the ball at the wings, make sure he gets it, and when you lose the ball, come back to the center or a little closer to the right-back’.”
Reflecting on the situation, the 33-year-old wished he had fought hard for his position.
“If the World Cup were to be held today, I will tell the coach to put me and Asamoah at the top. It will be a dangerous pair.”
He blamed the referee for Ghana’s exit from the 2010 World Cup after losing on penalties to Uruguay in the quarter finals.
He added that playing in the World Cup was a huge milestone for him.
Prince Tagoe has featured in 36 games for the Black Stars and scored seven goals.
