Wednesday, July 1 marks a special day in the lives of radio listeners in the Central and Western regions as Media General gave birth to Connect 97.1FM on this day four years ago.
Connect FM which has the slogan ’Yenye Wo Nam’ is a mixed blend of local language and English channel offering listeners a uniquely awesome listening experience – from news, sports and entertainment to community-led programming.
Since coming into the radio market in the Western Region, Connect 97.1 FM has distinguished itself as a winning brand, earning the name, the SOLUTION CENTER from its ardent listeners.
Connect FM’s flagship morning show Omanbapa and other programmes like Adzekye Pa, Asem Yi Dzi Ka, news, sports, Tsetse Wo Bi Ka, among others ensure added value to every listener.
The 4th anniversary celebration was marked with a live worship on the Omanbapa morning show in the studio of Connect FM. It was led by Minister S.K Frimpong.
Station Manager Ransford Nana Osei Asare shared memories of Connect FM’s birth and its impact on the people.
“It’s our vision to impact positively on the lives of the people by becoming a solution center and that has been part of our success story since the birth of Connect FM four years ago.”
Western Region Minister Kobina Okyere Darko Mensah had a congratulatory message.
“I want to commend Connect FM for your quality services while boosting the economy through your trade fair.”
District Chief Executive for Wassa East Wilson Arthur also commended Connect FM for its achievements.
“For a radio station to survive four years in the Western Region is no mean an achievement and I therefore congratulate you on your 4th anniversary.”
The cutting of the anniversary birthday cake was done by some members of staff.
