The Ghana Health Service and the Ghana Education Service have confirmed that a total of 55 persons have tested positive for coronavirus at Accra Girls’ Senior High School.
“As of 13th July, 2020, a total of 314 persons (student and staff) from the School have been tested,” the two bodies said in a joint statement on Monday.
“Out of these, 55 have been confirmed positive for Covid-19 while 259 persons tested negative.”
The release was issued after reports that the cases at the school seem to have gone out of hand.
But the statement, jointly signed by GES Executive Director Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa and his GHS counterpart, Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, said efforts are being made to ensure the safety of staff and students.
It outlined several actions taken in the wake of the confirmation of the first case at the school on Monday, July 6.
