Special Voting: All journalists with accreditation can vote – EC
Chair of the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) Mrs Jean Mensa has said all journalists who have been accredited by the Commission to cover the elections can take part in the special voting on Tuesday, December 1.
She explained at a press conference in Accra on Monday, November 30 that there was a miscommunication over the list of journalists expected to take part in the Special Voting.
However, that issues has been resolved, she stressed.
Mrs Mensa said the Commission has instructed all of its electoral officers to allow journalists with accreditation to vote in the early voting to enable them perform their duties on main Election Day, December 7.
Regrettably some journalists had their names missing.
It was miscommunication as the soft copies and the hard copies of the list presented by the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) were not the same.
“The Commission has instructed its officers to allow media practitioners who have access to the accreditation to vote.”
She further stated that the Commission expects this exercise to witness one hundred percent turn-out.
“As a commission we expect 100 per cent turn out. We expect it to be peaceful, credible and transparent,” she said.
