In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, health facilities in the country continue to receive donations from individuals, groups, and corporate organizations to complement government’s effort towards the fight against coronavirus disease.
A native of Asante Akyem, Dr S.K Frimpong, on Friday, April 23 donated items worth over GH¢50,000 to the Asante Akyem District Health Directorate.
At a brief ceremony in Agogo, Dr S.K Frimpong, a Technical Economic Advisor at the Vice President’s Office, mentioned the importance of supporting the health sector.
“The government is doing all it can to support the health system in the country; health is the most important wealth for a smooth and happy life. Unhealthy citizens are a financial drain on the country. When the individuals’ health is compromised, the economy is negatively impacted by a combination of low productivity and distortion of the national budget.”
The items presented included drugs, hand sanitizers and nose masks.
The items are to be distributed to (CHPS) compound in the Amantenaman Zone of Asante Akyem North Constituency in the Ashanti Region.
The Ashanti Region has about 140 CHPS serving as the first point of call for primary treatment of minor ailment, family planning, antenatal care, delivery and postnatal care, child welfare clinic, and immunization, among others.
Speaking at the event, the Coordinating Director of Asante Akyem Municipal, Johnson Nyarko, expressed his profound gratitude to Dr S.K Frimpong.

Also present at the event were Assemblymen from the Amantenaman zone.
Assemblyman for Wioso Bismark Addo, on behalf of the assembly members, thanked Dr Frimpong and his entire team from the Royal Aid Foundation for making the health of the people of Amantenaman their priority.
Dr S. K. Frimpong, who is also the Executive Director of the Aliu Mahama Foundation, took the opportunity to encourage the leaders in the community to lead exemplary life for the youth to imitate.
“Years ago, while I was serving as the Special Aide and Spokesperson for the Former Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. The late Alhaji Aliu Mahama, I observed his generosity and willingness to leave a legacy for the youth. He founded the Aliu Mahama Foundation to support the less privileged in society. Today, whiles directing the affairs of the foundation he left behind, the generosity seed he sowed in me has pushed me to establish Royal Aid Foundation to help me support the vulnerable. What I am doing today is evidential that the people we work with learn from us,” he stated.
The District Health Director of Asante Akim, Ronald Roland Welega Miah, was thankful to Dr S.K Frimpong for the kind gesture.
He encouraged other philanthropists and natives of Asante Akyem to emulate him.
“Thank you for your incredible generosity; We greatly appreciate your donation and your sacrifice. Your continuous selfless contributions to the health of the people in Asante Akyem are among the greatest assets of our society. Your support will help us further our mission to support underprivileged people who may lack the means to pay for health care.”
