Princess Dede Tetteh, representing the Greater Accra region, emerged as the best-dressed contestant for her first stage attire worn by exploring the great things in the capital.
Dede displayed the rich culture of the Ga and Adangme community. She spoke on the values and cultures of the people of the Greater Accra region. Their rich cultural festivities and particularly their celebrated outdoor sporting activity, Boxing and how it has significantly contributed to the development of the community. She explained that the capital of Ghana produced great and international boxing personalities such as Azumah Nelson, Ayitey Joshua Clottey, Bukom Banku and others.
Her presentation highlighted the historical buildings found in the Greater Accra Region, including the Osu Castle, James town Fort, Bukom Arena and Parliament House. These attributes are just a few to mention about the people of the Greater Accra Region. Dede proved beyond doubt that she did indeed know her roots.
Sarfoa of the Ashanti Region and Akosua from the Oti Region were close contenders for this category. Sarfoa dressed in rich regalia as she educated the audience on the meaning of the royal dance, Kete. And Akosua clad in the rich cultural diversity of her region.
Afua, the Eastern region representative, raced closely with her ‘borga’ style to demonstrate the benefits of the famous Kwahu festival. Teroo also emerged among the top five with her traditional attire, which depicted the importance of cowries in the Upper West Region.
