Over 250 pupils of the Akwadum Islamic Basic School may have to stay home for days due to devastation to their school building and, in effect, teaching and learning materials.
The pupils from Basic 1 to JHS 2 deserted school on Monday, October 3 due to the floods caused by heavy rains over the weekend.
Their community was worst affected by the flood.
Headmaster and teachers were greeted with empty classrooms.
The damage to learning materials and school properties have been devastating.
Headmaster of the school Albert Batsa says serious work can only begin next week Monday and called for assistance.
“We need urgent assistance immediately before the pupils can return to school. The school is in crises.
“We need support to renovate it. The JHS block is inhabitable now. The building had developed cracks now. We have to sit under trees to learn. Most of the students have lost their books.”
