Minister of Youth and Sports Mustapha Ussif says the government is doing everything possible to ensure the Black Stars have a successful World Cup campaign in Qatar.
Black Stars will make their fourth World Cup appearance next month, when the 2022 edition kicks off in the Middle East country on November 20.
The four-time African champions last competed in the World Cup in 2014, and their campaign was a flop, with controversial off-field issues taking centre stage.
Players threatened to boycott training due to late payment of appearance fees, forcing the government to airlift $3million to them in Brazil, and Sulley Muntari and Kevin-Prince Boateng were ejected from camp for gross indiscipline.
Ussif is well aware of everything that occurred eight years ago and is determined not to make the same mistakes.
“We are doing everything that is possible to make our campaign and the journey to the World Cup successful. We have learnt from our mistakes and we don’t want this Qatar [trip] to be anything bad. We want to ensure that we go to Doha and come back home successfully, without any problem” he said on Saturday at National Team Day Walk with the Legends.
