President of Ghannywood, Rev. Prophet Nana Kwame Okyere, who doubles as the PRO for Actors Guild Greater Accra region, has backlashed the government for their negligence towards the Ghanaian movie industry.
On a regional tour to set up a big platform where all quality Ghanaian movies can be logged on to, the Actor and Executive producer told Nana Yaw Gyebi, host of Adwumapa mbre on
connect 97.1fm that the Nana Addo-led NPP government has not been fair to them.
“The government has not been fair to us at all, especially the sitting president. He doesn’t care about us. I don’t know if we are not a part of this country because things are not going well in the industry, but nobody seems to be bothered.”
He further pleaded with the sitting president and the government to pay attention to the movie industry.
“We all know he’s busy with a lot, but i will plead with the sitting president to urge the creative arts ministry to sit up and pay attention to the movie sector. We dont receive royalties anymore. There’s a lot of confusion amongst the association. A lot of producers have given up, and it’s worrying. I will beg the
government to pay some attention to us because we all contribute to the development of this country,”
