Legon Cities head coach Maxwell Konadu feels the red card his team received helped them significantly in their encounter against Hearts of Oak.
The Royals held Hearts of Oak to a scoreless draw in the Ghana Premier League on Wednesday at the Accra Sports Stadium despite playing almost the entire second half with 10 men.
“He took it for the team. I mean it was a red card. The referee did well. For the first time, this was very genuine and we have taken it in good fate.
“But the player also did that tactically to save us, the guy could have scored.
It was good for us. We don’t know what the outcome would have been,” Konadu said.
He, however, lamented his team’s wastefulness as he believed they had a chance to stun Hearts of Oak.
“Tactically, it changed our game. We needed to soak the pressure and hit them on a counter. We did most for us to get one shot at goal, our player decided to dribble and that changed everything,” he added.
The result means Legon Cities will continue to search for a win after six matches having last won over bottom-placed Kotoku Royals in December.
