Black Stars winger Fatawu Issahaku has expressed his pride in sharing the dressing room with experienced striker Jordan Ayew who joined the former at Leicester City during the summer transfer window.
Having spent six years at Crystal Palace, the Ghana striker joined the Foxes reuniting with his compatriot Issahaku in a deal expected to improve the promoted side.
After a few games, the Ghanaian duo are back in Ghana on international duty as they both prepare with the Black Stars to face Angola and Niger in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
“He [Jordan Ayew] is always a senior player and I love playing with him. He always guides and gives you more advice and even outside and inside [on] the pitch so I’m happy. I think it’s going to be easier for me playing with him both in the national team and club,” Fatawu Issahaku said as quoted by 3Sports after the team’s first training session in Accra on Tuesday.

Notably, Issahaku and Ayew played key roles during Ghana’s previous assignments. The former Dreams FC winger assisted Jordan Ayew for the winning goal against Mali in the 2-1 victory in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The 20-year-old later found himself on the scoresheet in the next game against Central African Republic (CAR) while Ayew stole the show with a hat-trick propelling Ghana to a 4-3 victory in Kumasi.
Issahaku is therefore hoping for more of such exciting performances as they continue to share the locker room even more frequently.
“Before I heard he was coming [to Leicester City], I spoke with [to] him and I was happy. It was amazing. Right now I am happy I have another brother in my team and as we do it together as always in the national team, we are going to it more in the team [Leicester City] as well,” the Leicester City Young Player of the Year added.
