The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, KMA, has announced the opening of the road around the Kejetia-Central Market Project on Sunday, 16th December.
The road was closed to allow for a redevelopment of the road network around the Kejetia-Central Market Project Phase One project.
In a press release signed by the Assembly’s Public Relations Officer, Godwin Okuma Nyame, he said the opening of the road is “among efforts of the Assembly to help ease human and vehicular traffic in the city, especially as the Christmas festivities are fast approaching.”
The road network includes the road linking Kejetia to Dr. Mensah, Pampaso to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Roundabout, and Kejetia to Suame Roundabout.
However, the Assembly has cautioned traders who are still trading from the streets to “relocate to Racecourse, Nana Afia Kobi Market or any other satellite market in the Kumasi Metropolis, latest by close of day on Friday 14th December 2018.”
It added that traders who are selling on pavements and on the streets in the city who do not comply with the directive will face full rigours of the law.
He says the “Motor Transport and Traffic Department of the Ghana Police Service will be on the road on a daily basis, to direct traffic.”
“Motorist that would be plying these roads are also advised to drive with care.”
