The Mankessim Divisional Police Command has arrested two individuals out of a gang of seven who barricaded a section of the street at Mankessim Samaria to launch robbery attacks.
According to Police sources they had information that a group of armed men had blocked a section of the Mankessim Samaria road with concrete blocks and were robbing individuals of their valuables.
In an interview with Citi News, DSP Irene Oppong, Central Regional Police Public Relations Officer said the Divisional Patrol team led by D/CPL Christian Amponsah and three other officers acting upon the tip-off proceeded to the scene of the crime in a bid to catch the robbers.
According to the Public Relations Officer, the robbers who were in a Hyundai Atos taxi cab with registration number AS- 8798-12 upon seeing the Police bolted.
“They decided to run away upon seeing the Police advancing from [the] Mankessim direction,” DSP Irene Oppong said.
They were given a hot chase and two suspects including one Alex Gardner age 20 years and Cosmos Acquah, age 23 were arrested.
“Due to the timely intervention of the Police the robbers could not carry out their operations,” the PRO said.
The Public Relations Officer explained that the Police Patrol team managed to conduct a search on the two individuals and retrieved two knives, one screwdriver, four nails one mobile phone, tramadol tablets and a Kiss condom.
The suspects are currently in Police custody and the taxi has also been impounded for investigations.
” For now I can say the road has been cleared for vehicular movement,” DSP Irene Oppong said.
