Citi FM/TV’s Volta Regional Correspondent, Benjamin Aklama has been crowned the 2019 Ghana Journalists Association’s (GJA) Best Journalist for the region.
Benjamin came top at the 3rd Volta Regional awards ceremony held at the Volta Serene Hotel, Ho on Saturday.
The award was to recognize Mr. Aklama’s compelling stories about the region that were broadcast on Citi FM, Citi TV and also published on citinewsroom.com during the year under review.
President of the Ghana Journalists’ Association, Roland Affail Money and top media practitioner Yaw Boadu Ayeboafo were at the event which saw 11 other journalists pick up awards in various fields.
In a citinewsroom.com interview, Benjamin noted that his award is a testament of the significant role Citi FM/TV is playing in the country’s media landscape.
“It’s a call to higher duty and an acknowledgement of the good work Citi News is doing. I’m grateful to all the senior colleagues who horned me and continue to do so,” he said.
Benjamin Aklama who currently reports for both the Volta and Oti regions joined Citi News in November 2018.
Prior to that, he was a volunteer journalist with campus-based Volta Premier FM where he stayed for two years.
He later joined Global FM in the Ho Municipality as its Morning Show Host.
