A man, Fusheini Luckman is in the grips of the Northern Regional Police Comand for allegedly raping a seven-month-old pregnant woman in the bush at Tijo, in the Mion District.
The suspect according to the police pounced on the woman in the bush who was following her animals and forcibly had sex with her.
A report was made at the Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) unit of the police service.
The victim was then later issued with a form for medical examination.
The suspect was however arrested at his hideout in the community and he is currently in custody at the Tamale police to assist in further investigations.
Regional Crime Officer Supt. Otuo Acheampong narrated the incident to Citi News saying:
“On December 11, 2019, Musa Briamah Tijo called at the RCID/Tamale and reported that on 09 Dec 19 about 1500 hours that his pregnant wife (name withheld) returned from the farm and informed him that while in the bush following her animals, a man by name Lukeman Sanche came out from a nearby bush, pounced on her and forcibly had sex with her. They subsequently lodged a complaint at the RCID/Tamale where a medical form was issued to the victim to go to the hospital for examination. On December 14, 2019, at dawn, the suspect was arrested at his hideout at Tijo and currently in custody
Meanwhile, the medical form has been returned to the Police, having been endorsed by a gynecologist at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
