Asana Issah, a teacher and a mother of three in Tamale is appealing to the public for an amount of $10,000 to pay for her kidney transplant in India.
The surgery will cost $25,000, but she has been able to raise $15,000 from her family and a donation by a Damongo-based charity organization, Wipe-Away Foundation.
Asana Issah has been diagnosed with a kidney problem and is being managed at the dialysis unit of the Tamale teaching hospital.
She is supposed to undergo a kidney transplant in India.
Though a donor has been found, she has since not been able to undergo the transplant because she cannot afford the cost of the process.
Savannah Region-based Wipe-Away foundation having heard the plight of madam Asana has been able to mobilize US$10,000.00 from the region which has been donated to her.
Presenting the check to Asana, the Executive Director of Wipe-Away Foundation, Mr. Muftawu Habibu Borejinkpir urged the public to support the foundation to raise an additional $10,000.
“We have been able to raise US$10,000. We understand the family has been able to raise $5,000 so with another $10,000, she will be able to undergo the transplant since a donor is standing by, so we are appealing to the public to help us raise the remaining amount,” the Executive Director appealed.
Madam Asana Issah could not hold her tears as she appreciates what she has received while asking the public for support to raise the rest.
“I thank everyone who has contributed so far. I still need your help to undergo the transplant. I am a teacher and a mother of three. I need to take care of my children,” she said.
The nurse manager at the dialysis unit at the TTH, Mr. Yahaya Wanzam Adams thanked the foundation for the support.
