The various assemblies in the North East Region will kick-start the confirmation of the president’s nominees for Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the region from today, Thursday, September 30, 2021.
The Bunkpurugu and Yunyoo districts will have their confirmations at separate times later today, whilst Mamprugu, Moaduri, and West Mamprusi Districts will follow on Friday, October 1, 2021.
The East Mamprusi District will have its turn on October 5, 2021, whilst Chereponi District will hold its confirmation on 7th October 2021.
This was made known by the North East Regional Coordinating Council in a press statement signed by the Regional Minister, Yidana Zakaria.
Other regional coordinating councils have already begun the confirmation of the various MMDCEs appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Whilst some are getting unanimous approvals, others are also being rejected by their respective assemblies.
For instance, Assembly Members in the Yendi Municipality on Friday rejected the President’s nominee for the position of MCE.
Other assemblies such as the Gomoa West, Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Asokwa, and Obuasi East have all confirmed their nominees.
