The government is getting ready to start collecting the 1.5% E-levy on electronic transactions which was approved by parliament and assented into law by President Akufo-Addo in March 2022.
From May 1, 2022, the collection of the tax, which has been portrayed as one of the government’s main source of revenues for the 2022 fiscal year will commence.
Although the implementation date is close, there are still many lingering questions on the minds of Ghanaians about which transactions will be affected and which ones will not.
In this special edition of The Point of View on Citi TV on Wednesday, Bernard Avle hosted the Principal Revenue Officer of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Isaac Kwabena Amoako, and Nana Opku Afriyie Asante, a member of the E-levy Technical Committee, GRA, to answer some of the frequently asked questions about the controversial tax.
