Transport Operators have expressed their appreciation to Government for the decision to reduce fuel pump price. This was made known in a statement signed by Mr Stephen Okudzeto, General Secretary, GPRTU and Alhaji Aliyu Baba, General Secretary, Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council (GTRCC) and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Thursday. The Judgment Debt Commission has subpoenaed the Attorney General’s Department and the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning to clarify why Jamlast Company Limited was paid a judgment debt of $1,800,000 between 2011 and 2012.  A 35 year-old mason who defiled an eight-year-old girl in a bathroom was on Thursday sentenced to 16 years imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court. This year’s Easter drive safety campaign has been launched with a call on passengers to insist on their safety while boarding commercial vehicles. The United States Ambassador to Ghana, Mr Gene Cretz, has inaugurated a modern library for the Challenging Heights School at Winneba in the Central Region. A US-based organisation, the Hand-in-Hand for Literacy Foundation, sponsored the construction of the $80,000 library and provided 8,000 books and other logistics. The Special Operations Unit at the Office of the President has, in conjunction with the police, impounded 560 barrels of alcohol imported by a company in the Free Zones enclave on the pretext of using the alcohol for manufacturing, only for it to end up on the open market. The ruling on the submission of no case filed by businessman, Alfred Agbesi Woyome on the Gh¢51 million judgement debt saga has been adjourned to April 30, 2014. The Mental Health Authority (MHA) has initiated a legislative instrument (LI) to facilitate the effective implementation of the Mental Health Act of 2012 (Act 846). Three illegal miners who sneaked into the forest of Brumase, near Prestea in the Prestea-Huni Valley District in the Western Region, died instantly when the mining pit in which they were working collapsed on them in the early hours of Sunday.
