Abesim (B/A), Dec. 14, GNA - A former disciple of Bishop Dr. Richard Owusu-Akyeaw, the Founder and General Overseer of the Living Grace Ministries International, Prophet Collins Nyarko has called on Church leaders to emulate the Bishop in the propagation of the gospel.
Prophet Collins Nyarko, who is the Founder and General Overseer of Well of Salvation Ministries (WSM), said not only church leaders but Christians in general must emulate the virtues and leadership qualities of Bishop Dr. Owusu-Akyeaw
“This is because as a humble servant, the Bishop selflessly and obediently responded to the Divine call over three decades ago to be used as a worthy and effective tool by Jesus Christ to expand the “Heavenly Kingdom business on earth”, the Prophet explained.
Prophet Nyarko made the call at an event initiated and organised by him and his associate Pastors to celebrate and honour the Bishop as a “Living Legend” and “Doyen of the Charismatic Churches Movement in the Brong-Ahafo Region” on Sunday, at the national headquarters of the WSM, Abesim, near Sunyani.
The well-attended programme on the theme “We Need Not to Wait for Our Leaders to Die before We Write Nice Tributes about Them, Let Us Celebrate Them while They are Alive” was witnessed by people from all walks of life.
Among the dignitaries were Mrs. Evelyn Ama Kumi-Richardson, the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive, Nana Kwaku Sarbeng, and the Akwamuhene of Sunyani, who represented Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawri II, the Paramount Chief of Sunyani Traditional Area.
Others Pastors from different Churches and others trained by him and currently shepherding flocks in Brong-Ahafo and other parts of the country.
Reading his profile, Prophet Nyarko described Bishop Owusu-Akyeaw as “the ground breaker, a trailblazer, a gate-keeper, a model and a loving father of the land whose philosophy is bringing purpose, confidence and direction to our generation”.
He said “the Bishop is indeed a mentor and a good shepherded” whose life has tremendously impacted others, saying “My root is Bishop”, hence if there were days set aside to celebrate farmers, footballers, teachers, artistes, fathers and mothers, “then Pastors must also be recognised and celebrated”.
Born on 20th April 1964, Bishop Owusu-Akyeaw, was a product of the Kumasi Anglican and Tema Secondary Schools, and also Agape Bible College, Texas, United States of America (USA) and the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
Taking his level of academic, professional and vocational excellence some steps further, he continued his education at the Pinecrest Bible College, New York, USA and Shepherd Christian University in Nigeria where he obtained his Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD) in Christian Education and was consequently ordained a Bishop by the University.
“As Jesus Christ was born in a manger, the Bishop started his Ministry, the Grace Bible Church at the Liberation Barracks, Sunyani, in a sheep pen” and in the course of time, the Ministry not only changed names but locations in the Sunyani Municipality.
The Ministry was finally located at its present site at Berlin Top, Fiapre, near Sunyani with its present name “Living Grace Ministries International”, where it has its national and international headquarters.
He is the Founder and Executive Director of Christian Leadership Institute in Sunyani, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Chair of the National Association of Christian and Charismatic Churches (NACCC), and an Executive member of Ghana Peace Council.
Bishop Owusu-Akyeaw is a Professional Arbitrator, a Certified Human Resource Practitioner, Management Consultant, Certified Organisational Development Consultant and a motivational speaker.
He has been a Preacher of the gospel for more than 30 years worldwide in Africa, Europe, Asia and the Americas.
The countries included Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Norway, Malaysia and the United States of America where he planted churches, “built and provided Apostolic Covering for many Ministries”.
