Accra, Jan 14, GNA - Old students of the Manhean Junior High School in Tema, formerly Manhean Junior Secondary School (MAJUSEC), on Sunday honoured their colleague alumnus, the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Tema.
Felix Mensah Nii Annang-La, received a citation from his peers on the Tema New Town compound of his old school for his resourcefulness and sense of industry as the Mayor of Tema, and also for making MAJUSEC proud of his elevation in public service.
The citation acknowledged phenomenal infrastructural development in Tema in the short time that he had been in office, which was a source of pride to every MAJUSECAN.
A nostalgia evoking moment of the night was when the MCE was handed the citation by his former schoolmate, Mr. Ebenezer Gawugah, alias Big-Joe, now a successful businessman who is also the Acting Chairman of the MAJUSEC Old Students Association of 1992.
A short profile of the MCE that was read as preamble to the presentation of the citation was also done by another school mate, Stephen Ashitey Adjei, alias Moshake, who interestingly is a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the nemesis of the MCE’s political party, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Mr Annang-La, after completing MAJUSEC and second cycle, continued his academic pursuit, enrolling into the Regional Maritime University and later furthering his course abroad.
He was an elected Assembly Member for Harbour Electoral Area and later became Chairman of the Ghana Maritime Workers Union before his call up in 2017 by President Akufo-Addo to serve as MCE for Tema.
After receiving the citation, a homesick Felix Mensah Annang-La said he was humbled by the nostalgic twist that fate had put in his life on the night with him receiving a citation on the compound of his childhood school.
The MCE thanked organisers of the event for the honour done him and asked the old students of MAJUSEC to close their ranks.
He asked the organisers to keep him posted on the next get-together so that he could contribute his widow’s mite.
Mr Annang-La said the citation was a source of encouragement for him to do more for Tema, pledging that he will be spurred on by the thoughtfulness behind the citation to work even harder for the glory of Tema.
“It has come to my notice that Tema Manhean school is facing challenges, I will help address the developmental concerns of the school”, Nii Annang La concluded.
In attendance at the programme were; dignitaries from both political divides of the country and private individuals with links to MAJUSEC.
