Takoradi, June 17, GNA - Though technical hitches slowed down the issuance of the voters identification cards to new and old voters, it could not stop enthusiastic registrants from undergoing the processes.
About 80 voters had already visited and registered for the voters identification cards during the Ghana News Agency's visit to the Forecourt of the Road Safety Commission office where the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Office of the Electoral Commission (EC) was housed.
It formed part of the Commission’s preparations towards the conduct of the 2019 district level election of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) later in the year.
Though officers at the Metropolitan office refused to grant any interview to the media, observation at the premises showed a high turnout with long queues on the first day of the registration exercise.
Ghanaians who have turned 18 since the last registration as well as those who, for one reason or another, have never registered are encouraged to participate in the process.
