Tema, Nov. 27, GNA - Sawer-Nanor and Sons Company Limited, a construction firm has volunteered to give a facelift to the offices of the Ghana News News Agency to befit its branded status as the ‘Industrial News Hub’ in the country.
The facelift falls under the first phase of the renovation of the office.
Mr Simon S Tetteh, Managing Director of the Company said his outfit wanted to be part of the success story of the GNA Tema Regional Office by offering to renovate the office.
With the “Partnership Communication, we want to support the good work the media is doing for the country, and I must say helping to renovate the GNA, Tema office is the greatest opportunity to accomplish that aim”.
The first phase of the renovation involves the face-lifting of the office structure, the landscape, planting of flowers, fixing cracks in the building, and provision of a well-tiled toilet facility with its accessories and fixing other plumbing works on the main building.
The second phase will involve construction of a modern reception, changing of the ceilings, fixing of workstation office furniture, air conditioner, Television set, Computers and other modern communication gadgets in the newsroom and other rooms.
As part of the renovation, Services Merchandize Limited (SML) has installed Havells Venus Grand Led Flood Lights on the compound as well as ceiling fans in all the offices.
The third phase of the renovation will involve the changing of the wooden doors and windows into double and single Glazed Aluminium doors and windows.
Mr Tetteh said he believed that a good working environment was essential in getting workers dedicated and committed to their work and any attempt to beautify the work place must be embraced by all.
The GNA Tema Office located at Community One will also be painted to befit its new brand identity, Mr Francis Ameyibor, GNA Tema Regional Manager has stated.
“We are therefore not only renovating the fence walls and the many cracks in the building, but also providing a well tiled toilet facility and addressing all plumbing works at the Agency,” he said.
He said the Company’s acceptance was part of its Corporate Social Responsibility indicating that companies must not only think about the profit they make, but also what society and the country could gain from them.
Mr Ameyibor, commended Sawer-Nanor and Sons Company Limited for willing to sponsor the first phase of the renovation.
He said “We are transforming GNA into a modern news media with needed logistics, to bring comfort to the workers and motivate them to give their best.”
Mr Ameyibor also commended the Management of the Agency under the leadership of Mr Albert Kofi Owusu, the General Manager for creating the new image of the agency.
Mr Seth Nkrumah, Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager of the Company who was supervising the renovation noted that it was timely as the walls were weak and could cave-in with heavy rains.
He therefore called on public institutions to undertake regular repair works.
