To them, he had maintained his integrity which attracted the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) to appoint him as the Chairman of the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the federation, which he combined with his job as a jurist.
Mr Edward Nana Asare, a Private legal practitioner and Journalist in Accra commended the President for his choice, saying it was a step in the right direction for the other arm of governance of the Republic.
He said his knowledge of Jusctice Anin Yeboah as a Jurist though brief was that of a man who knows his procedures of the law and has them on his fingertips, “He has a firm grasp of the law and can be trusted to uphold freedom and justice without fear of favour as proscribed by the country’s founding fathers without losing sight of our cultural heritage in this changing times”
Mr Asare said the eminent jurist is a man of integrity who would uphold the conservativeness of the legal profession which continue to make it attractive to many, but resolute in all spheres to protect the innocent at all times.
He said based on his character the incoming Chief Justice if confirmed would ensure that the bench lives at up to the expectations of the generality of Ghanaians by upholding the rule of law.
Mr Kwabena Ankama Offei-Badu, another private legal practitioner who also spoke to the GNA, said he was overjoyed when he heard the news because he knows Justice Anin Yeboah as a jurist whose law especially his procedures as very perfect.
He said lectures delivered by Justice Anin Yeboah at Bar conferences attest to the above assertions and that he deserve the position and can live up to expectations.
Mr Offei-Badu said he believes that the incoming Chief Justice would surely make his mark to continue where his predecessors have left off and all must pray for him
Another private legal Practitioner in Accra who has know Justice Anin Yeboah for close to 40 years, who wants to remain anonymous told the GNA that throughout his practice, no one had brought-up any issue of contention or underhand dealing against him and that he has kept his integrity intact.
He said if you know him, he makes people feel at home when around him which some might take for being soft but inwardly, he is straight, fair and disciplined.
In the area of his career, he described him as one who had excelled in all his given assignments as well as being vexed in the law, so he spent very short times at both the High and Court of Appeal but most times with the Supreme Court, always being among the forerunners and making striking decisions in his justice delivery.
He said “We are not surprised about the choice of the President because he had treated all issues before him well and put everything beyond doubt”.
He said he was in private practice for a long time and had been at the Supreme Court 10 years since his appointment by former President John Agyekum Kufuor in 2008.
He said in the legal community, there was no problem and we are rather satisfied with Justice Yeboah, adding that he conducted himself above reproach and commands respect among the bench as well.
He said “If one misconducts himself or herself, he would not spare him or her, thus, no one would want to find himself or herself in that position”.
He said unlike Justice Sophia Abena Boafoa Akuffo, his predecessor, he has age on his side and must help complete projects such as the E-Justice process to facilitate and enhance justice delivery and on time.
He stressed that though matters should be quickly disposed of, they should be done on merit for fairness to prevail.
He urged the incoming Chief Justice to ensure the renovation of dilapidated courtrooms started by his predecessor to enhance justice environment to attract others to join the bench.
He said he should also look at practices elsewhere that could enhance Ghana’s justice delivery such as considering non-custodial sentences including communal service.
On the issue of corruption, he said Justice Anin Yeboah would not tolerate it and that but any justice or even lawyers found culpable would not be spared.
