Dompim (W/R), December 20, GNA - A man who allegedly murdered his six-year-old biological daughter for rituals has been arrested by the Tarkwa Divisional Police Command.
A police source told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Friday that the body of Cecilia Cobbinah, was found in a nearby bush at Bepoakyi, a village near Dompim-Pepesa in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality.
According to the source, the victim’s throat was slashed with the tongue and esophagus removed.
Additional information gathered by the GNA indicated that, when the news of the alleged murder got to the chief of Dompim, he dispatched a search party into the nearby forest to search for the assailant but nobody was arrested.
The source said the victim’s father, George Derodzi, had earlier claimed that life was becoming unbearable for him financially and that he would not mind sacrificing his daughter.
Derodzi and one Seweteh, who is his friend and suspected accomplice were therefore arrested based on the previous statement.
Both men are currently in police custody awaiting investigations whilst the body had since been deposited at the Tarkwa Municipal hospital morgue for autopsy.
