Tema, Dec. 24, GNA - Properties worth thousands of cedis have been burnt as a fierce fire razed an eight room wooden structure in Tema Newtown.
Though no casualty was recorded, several families have been rendered homeless and barely clothed as a result.
The Tema Manhean Operations Officer, Ghana National Fire Service, Mr. Newtown Abeka, told the Ghana News. Agency that the matter was under investigation.
According to an eye witness, the fire started around 6pm from one of the rooms.
Some of the victims told the GNA that, the fire was due to the negligence of some of the occupants and appealed for help.
The Assembly Member-elect, for the area, Emmanuel Ashitey Lartey, said he would offer temporal shelter to the victims as he sought a solution to their plight.
