Accra, Dec. 24, GNA - Apostle Anthony Ahenkan, the General Overseer of the Emmanuel Salvation Church International, has launched an album, titled “Efi Mu Kingkong,” (Unpleasantly Dirty), which seeks to fight the canker of sanitation problems in the country.
The song composed and performed by the General Overseer of the Church is aimed at encouraging the citizenry to reflect on their attitudes towards the environment and effect positive changes where necessary.
Apostle Ahenkan said the Church anticipated that the song caused a change by triggering the conscience of members of the public to change their individual attitudes toward sanitation.
The Album has songs like,’ ‘Hwan na odo Oman yi (Who loves this nation); ‘Sonson Woho wo Politicians ho (Beware of Politicians); ‘Yesu hia wo (Jesus needs you),’ and ‘Mensuro Watanfo (Don’t be scared of your enemies).
The Album, launched in Accra was graced by renowned Gospel Musicians like Professor Kofi Abraham, K.K. Kabobo, and Bernice Ansah.
Prof Kofi Abraham mesmerised the audience with his songs like, ‘Onyame Wo Mu’, ‘Nhyira nka Nyame' and ,’Nyame N’asem, while KK Kabobo also thrilled them with his popular hit ‘Onyame Ahu Wo.’
Apostle Ahenkan said he observed that despite efforts being made by governments to control the sanitation canker, the problem remained a threat to lives.
On his part, it was more of poor attitudes exhibited towards the environment by the public, which needed a positive change.
He urged the public to resort to the habit of disposing refuse into waste bins and desist from indiscriminate littering of the environment.
“Some people litter all around them and turn around to complain that Ghana is filthy, hence express how much they desire to travel abroad to live on a better and neat environment,” he said.
Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies need to ensure that waste bins placed at vantage points under the directive of the Ministry of Sanitation to reduce land pollution are collected on time to prevent spill over and unnecessary health hazards, Apostle Ahenkan appealed.
When permitted by government, he said, together with his church members, they would adopt some areas across the country and ensure that those areas were free from filth to encourage the public to emulate such constant community cleaning habits.
He encouraged religious leaders to join the fight against poor sanitation by making it a priority through education during church service.
“Many people in the country have contributed to the deaths of others without knowing. It’s because maybe the filth you discarded anywhere caused the flooding of someone’s room or caused someone to be sick. Let’s develop love for cleanliness as that will show that we are true Christians.”
Speaking on the preparations towards the 2020 general elections, he cautioned the youth not to allow themselves to be used as weapons of destruction by politicians for power.
“You should vote for whoever you want from your own true will and not allow anyone to manipulate you with a gift to vote for him or her,” he added.
