Tema, Dec 26, GNA - The Lions Club of Tema, an International humanitarian service organization, has provided assorted items to 1853 school children in Tema.
The items which included bags of rice, oil, tomatoes puree, assorted soft drinks, biscuits and other confectionaries, were part of the organization's social responsibility towards the school children this Christmas season.
The initiative, dubbed: “Lions Club International Relieving Hunger Activity, was in collaboration with the Tema Habour City Lions Club with beneficiary pupils drawn from Tema Community Four, Seven and Eight Cluster of schools.
Presenting the items at separate locations in the company of other club members, Lion Kofi Dzambo, President, Tema Lions Club, said the move was aimed at supporting the school pupils and other under privileged children who ordinarily could not afford meals during the yuletide.
He said his outfit continued to provide support for less privileged children in and outside Tema, citing a health screening exercise and donation of wheelchairs to the Anloga Clinic in the Volta Region in November.
He noted that the Lions Club prioritized education and had over the years supported school children in some parts of Tema to improve on their academic work.
Mr Dzambo, advised the pupils to take their studies seriously and avoid bad company.
