Suzuki Managing Officer Yusuke Kato says the company’s new partnership with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is designed to deepen its connection with Africa through sport.
The Japanese automaker recently signed a major sponsorship deal with CAF, becoming an Official Global Partner for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
The agreement also covers the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026, along with the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup for the 2026/27 season.
The signing, which took place in Hamamatsu, Japan, marks Suzuki’s first major investment in African football and its most ambitious branding initiative on the continent to date.
Kato said the partnership reflects Suzuki’s belief in football’s power to unite people and foster shared progress.
“We are very pleased to have concluded a sponsorship agreement with CAF. Sport has the power to connect people and nurture hope for the future,” he said.
“Through this partnership, we aim to further strengthen the ties between Suzuki, soccer, and Africa, enhancing Suzuki’s brand presence across the continent.
"We will continue to support the lives of all who love soccer by delivering the joy of mobility and enriching their daily lives.”
Suzuki intends to use the partnership to expand its reach across Africa’s growing economies, where demand for reliable and affordable vehicles continues to rise.
The collaboration will also enable CAF to enhance the commercial value of its competitions as it enters a new phase of international growth.
CAF General Secretary Véron Mosengo-Omba described the deal as another step in the federation’s effort to rebuild its sponsorship portfolio following years of instability.
With AFCON Morocco 2025 expected to attract record global audiences, CAF’s alliance with Suzuki underscores football’s role as one of Africa’s most valuable marketing platforms.
The partnership combines Suzuki’s mobility expertise with CAF’s footballing influence, setting the stage for a collaboration that both sides believe will strengthen long-term ties between Japan and Africa.
