Appolonia City CEO Bright Owusu-Amofah said, “Part of Appolonia City’s unique proposition in Ghana is to provide world-class utility service to its residents. Our agreement with Axcon Energy comfortably satisfy load growth and provide clean and reliable power to our industrial and residential clients.”
Appolonia City already receives supply from the national grid via a 33kv overhead line, serving a dedicated 60MVA primary substation. The new solar farm will augment this power supply, with further substations planned as the city grows.
“We are excited to deliver clean and renewable energy solutions for Appolonia City. We admire the city’s concept of retaining 25% of its land for public open spaces and conservation areas and will complement this by providing clean electricity,” said Pascal Siamey, CEO of Axcon Energy.
In October, Appolonia City was awarded “Best Mixed-use Development in Africa” at the Africa Property Investment Summit and has led the way in delivering innovative urban solutions. MainOne, the leading commercial data centre provider in West Africa, recently announced it is building a new data centre at Appolonia Industrial Park, within Appolonia City.
