The Holy Family Hospital at Berekum in the Bono Region has instituted measures to minimise the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
Management of the hospital has made changes in their service delivery which includes, limiting OPD services at the facility to only serious and urgent cases, suspension of elective surgeries leaving only emergency surgeries to be conducted.
“With the exception of one person that is caretaker who will be with a patient on admission, all visitors are not allowed. The care taker will be allowed to go out only on emergencies when the ward in-charge has issued him or her with a pass card”, the Health Service Administrator of the hospital, Rev. Sister Renna V. John said
“The necessary directions regarding supply of food and other items will be given to care takers during admissions”, Rev John added.
The hospital further said all visitors to the hospital are prohibited. Only those on official businesses will be allowed, no vehicle shall be allowed into the hospital except Ambulances carrying patients or vehicles carrying patients who are unable to walk. The hospital has also closed its third gate to both traffic and humans until further notice.
“All persons visiting the hospital are strictly required to use the first gate and they must comply with the directives of the security guards”, the hospital said and added that “only vehicles carrying corps or intending to pick corps to and from the morgue will be allowed through the mortuary gate”.
A member of the rapid response team, Mr. Henry Amankwaa said the new measures are to help minimize the level of human contacts in the hospital and to create a safe environment for their patients and staff.
