The COVID-19 National Trust Fund Bill 2020, which will give legal backing to the Fund set up for the fight against the Coronavirus, is waiting for an assent by the President, in accordance with law.
The assent has become necessary following parliamentary approval given to the Bill Thursday evening.
The approval which took place under certificate of urgency happened about 24 hours after the Attorney General Gloria Akuffo had laid the Bill before Parliament on Wednesday evening.
Monies to be generated through the fund will be used to support the vulnerable and needy who have been hit by the pandemic.
Again, frontline medical personnel and volunteers in the fight against the virus will also be support persons with the Fund.
The Fund will receive and manage contributions and donations from well-meaning individuals, groups and corporate bodies.
President Akufo-Addo has inaugurated a board of trustees to monitor and evaluate the operations and performance of the fund.
