B5 Plus Company Limited, a steel rod and corrugated roofing sheets manufacturer, says it is filling oxygen for free for health facilities that need it.
According to the company, it is doing this to support Ghana in its resolute fight against the Coronavirus pandemic. Mike Thakwani, Managing Director of the company, told The Chronicle: “We (B5 Plus Company Limited) have realised that oxygen will be another critical need of the hospitals in Ghana during these critical times. Therefore, hospitals can bring their cylinders to our company at Kpone for filling at no fee. We need to save lives for Ghana to work again. When Ghana is back, our company too will be back with production.”
He said the company has earmarked about GHc1.8 million for all material support it is giving Ghana during this period of the crisis.
For example, he said, the company expects to take delivery of a huge consignment of medical materials for distribution to the government next week.
“As soon as the vessel berths at the Tema Port and we discharge the materials, we will send them to the sector Ministry for distribution to the medical facilities. We are donating other items and cash to the kayaye and other important bodies in the country, and they are all directed at combating the devastating virus,” Mr Thakwani explained.
In the coming week, he said, B5 Plus Company Limited would be donating into the COVID-19 Trust Fund. He commended Ghana for its strategies in ensuring that it ends the pandemic.
He implored Ghanaians to make a regular schedule for proper hand washing, staying away from crowds, observing social distancing, staying at home as directed by the President and using hand sanitizers as often as possible to slow or halt the spread of the novel Coronavirus. “We have our businesses in Ghana and so we have to do our best to support the end of this danger to enable us work,” Mike Thakwani told The Chronicle.
