Ghana’s leading manufacturer of steel rods and corrugated roofing sheets, B5 Plus, has advised residents of Ningo-Prampram to adhere to the health directives to thwart the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
The company says while the residents exhibit their adherence to the directives, it will continue to mobilise resources to provide them with foodstuffs and detergents until the lockdown in Ashaiman, Tema and Accra is over.
Ningo-Prampram District is not on lock down, however, most of its residents, who are mainly traders who do brisk businesses in the three locked down towns, are unable to travel to areas.
The situation has had dire consequences on the livelihoods of mostly the vulnerable and needy who depended on the active workforce.
Based on this, the management of B5 Plus Company Limited, led by its Managing Director, Mike Thakwani, says it is going to periodically supply food items and detergents to especially the needy and vulnerable in the Ningo-Prampram District and Kpone until their dependents resume work.
These are areas where B5 Plus Company Limited has its production companies.
Since Saturday, the company supplied food items and detergents to over 600 beneficiaries at Lakpleku, Old and New Ningo-Prampram, Prampram, Dawhenya and Kpone.
“We are doing this in batches in all these six identified areas until the lockdown is over,” Mike Thakwani told pressmen after the fifth leg of the distribution at Dawhenya.
“These are very difficult times for Ghana and the world, and we, at B5 Plus, would implore the residents of these six areas to stay safe in their homes. We will supply them with food,” he added.
He said the company had to suspend the employment of over 4,000 workers due to the Coronavirus pandemic, “and we had to give everybody food items to keep them until they are recalled after the lockdown. It is not easy, but we have to do our best to support whoever we can in these trying times.”
As Ghana looks forward to conquering the COVID-19, Mr Thakwani applauded Ghanaians for their adherence to the President’s directives.
Jonathan Paa Nii Doku, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ningo-Prampram, on behalf of his district, thanked B5 Plus Company Limited for its show of charity and support for the people.
“We encourage the other companies on the land of Ningo-Prampram to emulate B5 Plus,” Mr Doku said.
B5 Plus Company Limited, through Jijo Sebastian, Head of Audit, Rahu Ramchawdanz and Banji Ojekunle, both Accountants, led in the presentation at the six towns.
