The re-election bid of the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Kwadaso, Dr. Samiu Kwadwo Nkrumah, has been truncated by Dr. Kingsley Nyarko, Executive Secretary of the National Accreditation Board (NAB).
Dr. Nyarko emerged the winner of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) poll yesterday with 172 votes against Dr. Nuamah’s 156, while Mr. Vincent Yaw Frimpong Manu, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Middle Belt Development Authority (MBDA) in charge of Development Projects and Operations and the former Ghana Country Director of World Cocoa Foundation, trailed with 50 votes.
Dr. Samiu Nuamah is the latest Member of Parliament from the Ashanti Region to have fallen out with delegates, making him the 10th sitting MP from the region to be booted out of Parliament.
In the June 2015 NPP primaries, Dr. Samiu Kwadwo Nuamah polled 198 votes against 95 by then incumbent, Dr. Akoto Afriyie, currently the Minister of Food and Agriculture.
Dr. Kingsley Nyarko, who emerged the winner at his second bid, polled 78 votes in the previous primary, trailing Hilda Addo, who, unfortunately, was disqualified for the 2020 polls.
Mr. Vincent Yaw Frimpong Manu, who improved upon his June 2015 performance of 14 votes by 34 votes, has congratulated the winner and given the assurance to support Dr. Nyarko’s candidature.
