A health and Wellbeing crusader, Action Plus Foundation, has embarked on a massive distribution of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) to some selected schools in the Greater Accra, Eastern and Volta regions to support teachers, non-teaching staff and students as they report back to school.
The Foundation, in order to aid the efforts of government in providing the support to contain the Coronavirus and safeguard both the students and their instructors in ensuring that they get three facemasks, hand sanitiser and gloves.
It also made available gallons of liquid soap, tissue papers and Veronica buckets that would enable the schools ensure their students practice and observe the protocols, so far as the Coronavirus pandemic is concern.
The globally renowned non-profit organisation selected the schools for the support, based on an already established relationship.
Headquartered in the United Kingdom, Action Plus Foundation has committed significant portions of its annual budget for the year to procure some essential supplies, such as Veronica Bucket, Hand Sanitiser, Liquid Soap, Tissue Papers, Nose Masks and PPEs among many other items to support the fight against the novel COVID-19.
Founder and Leader of Action Plus Foundation, Apostle Fred Osei Annin, by this kind gesture called on other Non-Governmental Organisations locally and internationally to support the Government in the huge investment being made to tackle the pandemic.
This help, he believes, would consolidate the significant gains Ghana is making in its fight against Covid-19.
He said the current case count in Ghana will reduce if people continue to adhere to health protocols outlined by WHO and strictly implement it within the shortest possible time.
“I would like to commend Government on it promptness in building a new Disease Infectious Centre in Ghana to be conducting medical research. I wish to reiterate that HIV/AIDS is real and as we adhere to the health protocols for COVID-19 we must also stay safe and be protected always,” he added.
The Foundation’s Public Relations Officer, Grace Hadzor presented items to the Forces High Technical School on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Burma Camp in Accra.
She reiterated that the donation targets selected schools in some three regions where their Campus HIV Programme is held.
Ms Hadzor said the Foundation will ensure every student and staff currently on campus benefits from the donation.’
Lieutenant colonel Zuneidu Osman, Head teacher of the Forces Senior High Technical School received the items and thanked the Foundation on behalf of the other schools in the Accra region – Tema Technical Institute and Ideal College.
He said the donation has come at a time the Ghana Government has deemed it necessarily and important to reopen schools to enable final year students and those lagging behind to complete the term.
“We want to thank Action Plus that we have had a very long standing relationship with, and have come to our aid in the past and now, we need it [help] very urgently, they are here again to support us,” he said.
He described the support as been timely and will be put to very good use so that teachers, students and non teaching staff can benefit to enable them go about their duties very confidently.
“We also want to use the opportunity to also assure our partners that we are strictly observing all the covid-19 protocols to the best of our ability,” he added.
He said the school now has two-thirds of the students who have reported and to him it shows how eager the students are to be back to school.
