The Ashanti Regional Directorate of the Ghana Education Service over the weekend took delivery of logistics to combat the novel coronavirus, ahead of the reopening of Junior High Schools (JHS).
Amongst the items were; 8,216 Veronica buckets, 7047 thermometer guns, 16,432 pieces of bottled soap, 16,432 pieces of tissue paper and 148,575 pieces of sanitisers for onward distribution to all basic schools in the region, through the 43 Metropolitan/Municipal/ District Education Directorates.
Taking delivery of the items in Kumasi on Saturday June 27, 2020 at the Regional Education Office, Amakom-Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional Education Director of GES, Ms. Mary Owusu Achiaw expressed appreciation to the government for the items.
She urged all schools to follow laid down protocols to control the spread of COVID-19.
This, she said, will go a long way to protect students, teachers and non-teachers.
On his part, Mr. Mark Ofori, the Regional Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Education Service said GES Ashanti will intensify monitoring of the Covid-19 protocols in all schools across the region.
