The Deputy Central Regional Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Madam Sarah Afful, has inaugurated the Cape Coast South Constituency branch of the Zongo Ladies for NPP.
The task of the inaugurated branch is to vigorously campaign for the party’s presidential and parliamentary candidates in the four Zongo settlements in the Metropolis.
Inaugurating the association, Madam Sarah Afful noted that the NPP had performed significantly well with overwhelming achievements, programmes and policies that have improved the living standards of Ghanaians.
These achievements notwithstanding, she stated that there was still the need for the party to tell its success story to the electorate, ahead of the December general elections.
She, therefore, charged the members to work hard and intensify their campaign that would ensure victory for Mr Ernest Arthur, the party’s parliamentary candidate for Cape Coast South.
She explained: “The party requires the support of all members to win both the presidential and parliamentary votes in the Cape Coast South constituency.”
In view of this, she said, it was imperative for the party to campaign vigorously for President Nana Akufo-Addo who is seeking a second term.
Madam Sarah Afful, who is also the Central Regional Director of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), donated an amount of GH¢300 to the branch.
Mr Ernest Arthur, NPP parliamentary candidate for Cape Coast South, told the gathering that several projects and polices had been implemented in the Metropolis.
These projects, he mentioned, were meant to ameliorate the plight of every Ghanaian by reducing socio-economic hardship in all facets of life.
Mr Arthur, who is the Mayor of Cape Coast, mentioned the expansion of School Feeding Programme, the rehabilitation of Cape Coast Town Hall and Jubilee Park among others, as some of the projects.
He donated an amount of GH¢1,850 to the members and further urged them to intensify house-to-house campaigns in the metropolis for the president and the party.
The Cape Coast South Women’s Organiser, Caroline Ewusi, stated that the introduction of the Free SHS had taken the burden off many parents who could not have sent their wards to high school.
She, therefore, appealed to Ghanaians, especially women, who constitute about 52 percent of the population, to vote for the NPP in the December elections.
Membership of the branch was drawn from all the Muslim youth in the four Zongos in the metropolis. The inauguration was attended by the Regional Nasara Coordinator, Alhaji Buba, and all constituency executives.
