It is possible that the police will kill two or more birds with one stone, as eyewitnesses of the murder of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Mfantseman Constituency, Ekow Quansah Hayford, have identified two persons in the video footage of the Fidelity Bank killing of a security guard recently.
The two suspects, believed to be in their late teens and of a particular West African lingual, have been ferreted from their hideouts and are assisting the police.
The Chronicle security source, who confirmed their apprehension, is bubbling with hope that this may propel to other breakthroughs in the numerous unsolved murder cases.
After the killing of the security guard on duty at the Haatso branch of the Fidelity Bank in Accra, detectives secured the footage of the Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) at the premises of the financial institution.
Armed with this all-important clue, the detectives, who have been tasked to unravel the mystery, are leaving no stone unturned in their bid for the needed results.
The deceased MP for Mfantseman Constituency in the Central Region, who was gunning for re-election to Parliament, was returning from a late-night campaign in the constituency when his vehicle encountered an armed group which was conducting a robbery on other road users.
As the pickup manouvred to escape, shots were fired into the vehicle which hit the hands of the driver, who ended up losing control.
The weapons-tottering youngsters in the course of the robbery got infuriated when the lawmaker reportedly made a self-introduction to them. He was then pulled out and shot dead.
Since the incident, speculations have been rife as to the motivation for the murder, whether contract killing and or a victim of highway robbery.
