Arsenal suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City but Partey was allowed to make a brief cameo.
The 27-year-old came on in the 82nd minute to replace Granit Xhaka whilst Arsenal was still trailing.
He did not have much time to make an impact but showed great composure and passing ability with the little time afforded him.
Manchester City’s goal came from Raheem Sterling in the first half from close range. He was there at the perfect time to tap in a saved shot.
Partey is expected to make more appearances in subsequent matches.
He was signed by Arsenal in this summer transfer window.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was asked if his side need to change their dismal record away against the top six teams, said: “Absolutely. You want to go to every ground and win.
“To get into the position you have to do so many good things, throughout 96 minutes, and we did a lot of them but in the end, games are decided in the boxes.
“Against big teams, when you get there, you have to put them away.”
