President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said that, come December 7, 2020, God will expose the deceit of his main opponent, John Dramani Mahama.
The President says the leader of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is roaming the country deceiving Ghanaians to vote for him, after his abysmal delivery when he got the chance to lead the country.
Recalling that Mr Mahama had some time stated that Ghanaians had short memories, President Akufo-Addo stressed that he would see his smoothness level in this year’s elections to know that Ghanaians do not have short memories.
“The leader of NDC is going around the country promising as if we don’t know him. He is not new to us. When he is promising he should tell us what he did under his term. He didn’t do anything serious for the nation that was why he was voted out for me to come. And for the deceit, God will expose him for us on the 7th of December that Ghanaians know what is good for the development of the country,” he spoke in Twi.
President Akufo-Addo was addressing a rally at Ofankor in the Trobu/Amasaman Constituency yesterday, on Day One of his two-day tour of the Greater Accra Region.
Earlier, President Akufo-Addo had called out John Mahama to stop lying to the good people of Ghana in his bid to return to power.
He repeated this when he addressed traders and residents of Kokompe Market, and Kaneshie Market in the Okaikwei South, Constituency, as well as when he addressed traders and residents of the Abeka Market in the Okaikwei Central Constituency and Anyaa Market in the Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency.
Having presided over the worst economic statistics in recent history, the President wondered what John Mahama’s motivation was for seeking the office of President of the Republic of Ghana.
“I know of someone going about on a promising spree – that if he comes, he would do this and that, but the fact of the matter is he has been in power before, and what actually did he achieve? Nothing”, he said.
President Akufo-Addo continued: “We have experienced his stewardship before, and it didn’t meet the expectations of Ghanaians. So, he (Mahama) should stop lying to Ghanaians, for us to continue with our developmental agenda for the country!”
According to President Akufo-Addo, his party, the New Patriotic Party, has a blueprint for the development of the country.
He said that in his first term he had laid a strong foundation, and in the second term he was going to build on the foundation for the transformation of Ghana to bring prosperity to the country.
“… That is why I need a strong majority in Parliament, and a strong vote to give me the confidence and the strength to carry out the programme of economic development of our country,” President Akufo-Addo stated.
On recent loans the government gave to traders and small businesses to support their recovery from the impact of the novel Coronavirus on their livelihoods, President Akufo-Addo assured the traders who are yet to benefit from the government subvention that they will receive the support they need early next year, if he wins the 2020 polls.
“With regard to the money we set aside to help small business owners, I know not everyone has received what they applied for. However, I wish to assure you that when the four more for Nana materialises, all those who are yet to receive will certainly receive theirs accordingly,” President Akufo-Addo said.
To the business owners, artisans, traders of Kokompe, the President recounted the promises he made to the Ghanaian people, and offered an update on the status of these pledges.
“I have come this morning to ask you if I have reneged on my promises to you; if I have disappointed you; if I came to lie to you. Since I have fulfilled most of my pledges to you, that means I was honest with you. For these reasons, you know I have lived up to expectations, so give me four more years to serve you better and continue my work,” he added.
The Minister for Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen, who took his turn to address the gathering, indicated that the significant amount of work undertaken by President Akufo-Addo’s administration required that the Ghanaian people repose their confidence in him once again, by voting massively for him in the 2020 elections.
“If you have been in government before and you are seeking another mandate from the people, what we have to ask you is when you were coming what were the promises you made? It is based upon this that you would be asked to give account for your stewardship,” he said.
The Trade Minister continued: “I was with Nana Addo during the entire 2016 campaign season. If you remember, he said that if given the mantle of leadership, he would introduce Free SHS. Has the promise been delivered or not?”
To this the massive crowd at the market responded, “It has been fulfilled.”
