Justice Nasiru Sulemana Gbadegbe has retired at the age of 70 years, after serving as a Supreme Court Judge for 11 years.
It was an emotional moment for many who thronged the Supreme Court to hear the verdict on David Apasera and 39 others versus the Attorney General yesterday.
Justice Gbadegbe, while addressing the audience, broke down in tears, as December 3, 2020 marks the end of active service to the country, and a start of a life in retirement.
Justice Gbadegbe, who has served the Judiciary for 31 years since 1989, was on his last day in court to give his last judgement in the case of the Chinery Hesse Committee report being unconstitutional.
The Chinery Hesse Committee recommended that ex-gratia be paid former parliamentarians who had finished serving their terms.
The emotional-looking Justice Gbadegbe eventually lost his voice in a packed courtroom, where the other justices, including Chief Justice Kwasi Anin Yeboah, were present to give their support.
Justice Anin Yeboah, Justice Jones Dotse, Mr Anthony Forson Jnr, President of the Ghana Bar Association, and Deputy Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame all took turns to pay tributes on his long service to the nation.
