Telecommunication giant MTN has assisted Miss Binazir Saeed, daughter of the late Alhaji Ali Saeed Yacub, former News Editor of Multimedia Group in Kumasi, and Ernest Best Anane, a reporter of The Chronicle Newspaper, with undisclosed amounts.
The gesture was to help the late news editor’s daughter, who is currently an employee of MTN, to settle down after the painful loss of her father.
In the case of Ernest Anane, MTN deemed it necessary to assist him after he lost his entire belongings following a fire that gutted his apartment barely three months ago.
Touched by the two unfortunate incidents, the management of MTN presented an unclosed amount of monies to the two beneficiaries.
Mrs. Georgina Asare Fiagbenu and Mrs. Charity Darko, Senior Corporate Communication Manager and Corporate Affairs Managers (Northern Business Sector) respectively, who jointly presented the monies at a short ceremony, stated that the gesture was MTNs widow’s mite to give the victims some respite and recover from the losses.
Mr. Sebastian Kow Freiku, The Chronicle Regional Editor, on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed their profound gratitude to MTN for the largesse to his colleagues.
He said the gesture was timely and hoped the intervention would go to strengthen the bond of working relationship between MTN and the media.
